BLOG: Exploring New ERP Opportunities

Navigating End-of-Life for Microsoft Dynamics GP

In September 2024, Microsoft officially announced the end of new functionality and mainstream support for Dynamics GP in 2029.

So, now what? You may be asking yourself! Well, as someone who has dedicated most of my career to Dynamics GP, I recognize how challenging it is to confront this reality. Although the GP community has seen this coming, reaching this point still feels significant for all of us, myself included. It marks a significant turning point for many businesses that rely on the platform and it’s a moment to stop and think about what comes next.

What is the replacement for GP?

If you’re a GP user, you’re likely weighing your options. Should you continue using GP for the foreseeable future, or is it time to explore new ERP solutions? It’s important to have these discussions with your Microsoft reseller partner to ensure you have a plan tailored to your business needs. Partner relationships have always been a key component in our space, and now they’re more critical than ever!

I currently find myself in a unique position. While I thoroughly enjoy my new role at Tasklet, I remain empathetic toward Dynamics GP end users navigating this transition. Many users may prefer to stay put and explore viable support paths, and there are several options available. I believe the GP community will continue to innovate if there’s demand.

GP EOL: What Are Your Options?

Whether you plan to stay on GP for a little longer or are considering a move to Dynamics 365, now is the time to evaluate your options. The end-of-life announcement for GP may feel like the end of an era, but it’s also an opportunity to rethink how your business can benefit from modern ERP solutions and warehouse management systems.

If you’re looking ahead and thinking about transitioning to a modern ERP system like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, it’s an ideal time to rethink your warehouse management strategy. At Tasklet we offer a powerful and intuitive mobile warehouse management solution (mobile WMS) that integrates seamlessly with Dynamics 365 BC and F&SC. Our offerings are ideal for businesses with critical inventory needs, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how effectively we perform in these ecosystems.

The SCAN-tastic choice

Extend the Power of Your ERP

With Tasklet Mobile WMS, you extend the power of your ERP system directly to the warehouse, ensuring full control over your operations with barcode scanning. Here’s why Tasklet is the right choice:

  • A barcode scanner solution with real-time integration with both Dynamics 365 Business Central and F&SC, ensuring your data is accurate and manual errors are eliminated.
  • A user-friendly mobile interface that simplifies essential tasks like receiving, picking, packing, and shipping supporting all your internal, inbound, and outbound processes.
  • Offline functionality, ensuring your warehouse operations continue smoothly even when there is no network connection. This is critical for businesses operating in large facilities or remote areas where internet connectivity can be inconsistent.

So, whether you’re managing a small or medium-sized warehouse or a complex multi-location operation, transitioning to Business Central or F&SC with the right tools can extend new levels of inventory management and warehouse efficiency. And I’d love to showcase our solution and share our commitment to relentless support.
